David Booer (Tenor) was a Music Scholar at Sutton Valence School, during which time he was a member of the National Youth Choir. He studied Mathematics and Astrophysics at Cambridge University, whilst singing in the choir of Selwyn College as a Choral Exhibitioner, with whom he toured Germany, Canada and the USA and made various recordings. Whilst at Cambridge, David performed with numerous ensembles including vocal octet FourFour, the University Chamber Choir, Opera Society and Gilbert and Sullivan Society, performing in a broad range of works from Purcell’s The Fairy Queen to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. He has since performed with the Dunelm Consort, Northern Consort and the Bishop’s Consort, as well as performing solos for various Choral Societies. His solo roles have included Bach’s St John Passion, Easter Oratorio and assorted Cantatas, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Monteverdi’s Vespers, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Stainer’s Crucifixion and Wood’s St Mark Passion.
David has sung professionally as a Tenor Lay Clerk at both Durham and Rochester Cathedrals, as well as deputizing in the choir of Canterbury Cathedral. His teachers have included Eileen Field, Anita Morrison and Stuart MacIntyre.
In his full-time professional life, David works for a leading financial firm as a fully-qualified Actuary, specifically in the Pensions and Insurance sector.
